At the End of the Age

At the end of the age when
Baskets of apples are sorted through
One with the good ones will completely overflow
While the other one
will be see-through
Won’t we be surprised?
Won’t God get a good laugh?
When we find at
the last great harvest
That love includes
the wheat and the chaff
Don’t hang your head and cry
Everything will be all right
Let’s dare to dream that the end will bend to love ‘cause
Sunrise always follows midnight
At the end of the age
We think we’ll be on trial
Standing naked before
a jury of our foes
While they throw their rocks
with wicked smiles
What if when we close our eyes
And breathe our final sigh
We’re ushered in before the ones that we did wrong
And they welcome us with hugs and high-fives?
Can you resist the urge
To split the goats from sheep?
They’re all just skipping ‘round and crying out for love
And the shepherd wants them all to keep…
